Patagonia

Update: We’ve made the decision to skip this trip for February 2024 due to not having enough travelers. We will start the sign-up process earlier on for the next trip! To that end — we’re leaving all the info from the 2024 itinerary here for reference. If you’re interested in such a trip, feel free to fill in the form below and we’ll keep you on our list for next time!

Elsewhere Adventure Club’s first-ever trip in 2023 was to the Patagonia region of Argentina, and we’re so excited to bring this trip back for 2024. The trip will begin on Feb. 1, 2024 in Bariloche, in the Patagonia region of Argentina. Before this date, you have flexibility in terms of how much time you want to spend in Buenos Aires — we’ll offer flight recommendations, hotel suggestions, and information about airport transfers. The Buenos Aires portion of the itinerary is not part of the Elsewhere group trip, as we want to allow folks to extend their travels as much as they wish, but we’re happy to help you through the planning process! We’ll even recommend some of our favorite restaurants and sight-seeing spots in Buenos Aires.

Once we all arrive in Bariloche on the 1st, we’ll spend three nights at a magical place called Valle Encantado. Translating to Enchanted Valley, this is a spot where we can relax, enjoy some short hikes, and indulge in the delicious meals prepared by our chef and guide, Richard Oyarzun.

Our group will likely have the whole ranch to ourselves, and with absolutely zero cell service or Wi-Fi, it’ll be a time to unplug and acclimate to the feeling of adventure. Each day begins with yoga classes, and each night concludes with a delicious multi-course meal and flowing bottles of wine, beer and gin.

From there, we’ll spend two nights in the city of Bariloche. The city serves as a launching pad for a couple of full-day excursions. One is a short, steep hike up to a refugio (shelter), where Richard and his team will prepare delicious streak sandwiches. Then we take 4x4s back down the mountain and proceed to tour different Bariloche breweries and learn about the different scopes of beer production in Argentina. Another great day will include a boat trip in a national park, where we can hike up to a waterfall before our return trip.

Our next stop is the Mascardi Lake Lodge, located in a large national park. The lodge is a place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and venture out on another full-day excursion to the Andean Region, where we’ll meet local food and beverage producers and enjoy lunch at a beautiful cider house that Richard helped open. We take off from the Mascardi Lodge to the final big portion of our trip — a 10-mile hike from Pampa Linda up the Paso De Las Nubes trail to the Refugio Rocca. The hike is an incredible group experience, culminating in a memorable night spent in bunk beds at the Refugio. We hike back down the next day, eat an amazing lunch, and relax at the Lodge again, before flying home the next day.
